Sample Question

Is there a sin that a saved person can commit so that s/he can lose her/his salvation?

Melvin’s Answer

If one is saved, there is no sin by which you could lose your salvation. Once you’re saved, you’re always saved. John10:28 says, “I (Jesus) give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” John 3:16 says, “whosoever believeth in him (Jesus) should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Since everlasting life can’t end, we can’t lose it, or else it was never everlasting life. Yes, there are times when Christians go bad, and end up denouncing God, even saying they hate God, but if they were truly saved at some point, they’re still saved, because otherwise salvation would be partially based on good works, which can’t be the case. Salvation isn’t trusting Jesus and then keeping yourself right; salvation is just trusting Jesus period. So, thank God, we can’t get unsaved now even if we wanted to! Jesus has already taken away all our sins if we put our faith and trust in Him.
