We are working on re-vamping our web content. I will FINALLY try to get some updates done. So far here’s what we have:

We will also add sections to the web, regarding speaking schedules, church calendar and hopefully more. We are still looking for graphics people to help us with design.

Some follow up for Sunday’s message:

-Lexington and Concord and Bunker Hill battles were all fought in 1775, so the Revolutionary War actually extends farther back than 1776, contrary to Nathan’s statement.

-Representative government existed in England well before the American Revolution. Contrary to Nathan’s statement that “there would be no Parliament if not for July 4th,” Parliament had already existed for years and years. In fact, one of the major gripes of the revolutionaries was “taxation without representation”– being taxed without a seat in Parliament. Had there been no July 4, the whole world would not have been ruled by kings in all likelihood.

It’s Math Camp picnic flyer time, almost. Please pray for the students.

Diamond Dusters All Star Results

Many other players received votes as well. I like that we really are supportive of each other as a team.
The C-division all star game will be 330pm on Sunday July 5th. Even if you’re not playing, it would be nice to come out that day.

Diamond Dusters Game 3

The Diamond Dusters’ offensive struggles continued in this game and they could not match up with Cornerstone’s power hitters. Cal had a late 3 run homer to start a comeback. However, the game was called during the bottom of the 6th with CBF trailing 12-4 when Ed dislocated his shoulder by crashing into the fence while attempting to make a catch. He will be out for a while, and we hope everyone can pray for his full recovery. We will miss his defense and leadership in the outfield, but it gives us a chance to play the kids and see what they can do.

Just an addendum to my Sunday message: the “big announcement” from Jon and Kate on Monday was that they were splitting up. In fact, they’ve been living apart for two years now! Of course, this is Hollywood, so “the show must go on.”

Mo’Yeah Game 2

CBF Mo’ Yeah 8 v. FLCC Autobots 7

Offensive Star: Bennie Chau: 3-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 4 runs scored, and game winning HR in the 5th
2nd Star: Roger Yien: 4-4, 2 RBI

In another exciting win, CBF took it to extra innings to beat the Autobots. Due to a scorekeeper’s error, both teams played into the top of the 8th; however, the game result did not change. The final score should have been 7-6 instead of 8-7.

Peony Cheung suffered a sprained ankle, forcing Stephanie Wo’s return to the lineup from pregnancy. She went 0 for 2, grounding into a double play. The game was highlighted by excellent defense. While giving up two home runs, CBF also turned two double plays and in 5 of 8 innings they faced 4 or fewer batters.

Diamond Dusters Game 2

Last week, the Diamond Dusters sported their brand new green uniforms. They looked good, but still got dusted by the young team from Cumberland. A few misplays on defense combined with clutch hitting from Cumberland led to 2 huge innings. CBF’s pitching was kind of shaky and was forced to go to the bullpen and bring in Coach Kenny for the final few innings to get the bats going. The game was much closer than the final score of 17-1 might indicate.

Despite the disappointing result from the game, the Diamond Dusters seemed to be in good spirits. Selina led a short devotional time after the game that was well received by both teams. The team also held a practice session afterward so the results will be different when we play them again at the end of the season. (Just like in Gridiron Gang, except we play softball instead of football and we’re not a bunch of juvenile delinquents locked up in jail.)

Diamond Dusters Season Opener

After a tough season in the B division, the CBF Diamond Dusters opened play this summer in the C division. This year’s team features 9 CCU rookies, as a few of last year’s players have been called up to the A team. Many of the rookies only had one week of practice, but it was more than enough, as the Diamond Dusters managed to start off the season with a 6-5 win over CUMC.

Game highlights:

Raymond made the rookie mistake of stepping on home plate and making an out instead of scoring a run. He did score another run later that ended up being the game winner.

A shortage of gloves did not lead to a shortage of awesome defense. Bai turned an unassisted double play at 3rd. Allan had a nice spin move on one throw to first. Great defense in the field from newcomers Ed and Jenny as well.

Sloppy pitching led to a few strikeouts, but overall contact at the plate was good. We had hits that ranged from 5 feet to 445 feet.
